Deputies: 2 charged after plow, scrap metal stolen from vacant home

MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Two men have been charged after allegedly breaking into a vacant home and stealing scrap metal and a plow, according to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.

Eric Houck, 36, and Gary Patterson Jr., 35, have been charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods after the incident on Dec. 28, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies went to the vacant home on Linville Road in reference to a breaking and entering in progress, but the suspects left before the officers arrived.

Another deputy spotted the suspect's Red Chevy Blazer on Highway 126 and stopped it, where they found a plow and buckets of scrap metal that were reported missing from the vacant home.

Deputies said Patterson was issued a citation for driving while having his license was revoked, and Houck had an outstanding warrant from Burke County.
