SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg Police officers said they arrested four men on several drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop.

An officer said he was traveling west on W.O. Ezell Boulevard just after midnight Sunday when a car with its high-beam headlights on approached rapidly from behind.

The officer said he pulled over into the other lane to allow the vehicle to speed by, then turned on his blue lights to initiate a traffic stop.

The officer said he noticed the passengers acting suspiciously and asked to search the car and the men inside.

The officer said the men were carrying a large jar of green plant material, two handguns and a revolver, two digital scales, and an open liquor bottle.

Reports state that Tyrell Booker, 20, Rondrick Gist, 18, Robert Nash, 21, all of Spartanburg, and Prennis Thompson, 20, of Woodruff were all taken into custody.

Police said each suspect was charged with possession of a stolen pistol, unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession a handgun by persons under 21, and possession of liquor by a minor.

The suspects are currently being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
