CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins announced Monday that he will be entering the 2014 NFL draft.

Watkins played three years with the team and said he will pass up his senior year with the Tigers, where he set 23 records for Clemson, according to a release from the university.

"I am very thankful for the past three years at Clemson University that have enabled me to grow academically, athletically and spiritually," said Watkins in the release from the school. "After much prayerful consideration, I have decided to take the next step in pursuing my lifelong dream of playing in the NFL."

Watkins holds the school's record for receptions and receiving yards for a game, season and career, even though he only spent three years with the team.
