GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Rosylin Weston, spokeswoman for Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, confirmed a construction worker was injured by a piece of equipment on a job site at the airport.

Weston said the medical emergency was dispatched at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. A Greenville Hospital System medical helicopter is on the scene along with Spartanburg EMS.

Weston said the construction worker is with Skanska, the group that is responsible for the terminal renovations at GSP.

Pamela Monastra, a spokeswoman for Skanska, said the 19-year-old subcontractor sustained an injury to his right foot. Monastra said the worker was injured during the demolition of a cooling system at the airport.

The extent of the worker's injuries is unknown at this time. The worker was flown to Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Weston said the worker is not an actual employee of GSP and believes the piece of equipment was a possible chiller.

Weston said the accident is under investigation.
