Flames shoot through the roof of a home in Simpsonville

SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters called for additional manpower as they battled a fire in Simpsonville Tuesday night.

The fire on Scuffletown Road started started after 9 p.m.

Officials said they got a 911 call from someone driving past the home.

Smoke could be seen pouring from the roof of the brick home when our news crew arrived on scene.

The Clear Springs Fire chief said there were flames through the roof of the house when firefighters arrived on scene.

Clear Springs Fire Department got help from the Pelham Batesville Fire Department. 

Officials said there were nearly 30 firefighters on scene.  One firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor heat related symptoms, according to the Clear Springs fire chief.

There is no word on how the fire started.  No one was inside the house when the fire started.
