EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Easley Fire Department called in a backup water supply to fight a fire at 417 Church St. Tuesday night.

Captain Tim Rowland said they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived on the scene at 6:16 p.m.

There was no one home at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured.

The Red Cross responded to provide help to the homeowner, according to Rowland.

The fire captain said the fire hydrant nearest to the fire was not working due to the extreme cold.

Pickens Fire Department provided a tanker truck for water supply.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
