Boil-water advisory continues for Calhoun Falls

CALHOUN FALLS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A boil-water advisory issued on Wednesday night for water customers in the Calhoun Falls area has been extended into Friday.

Officials said a pipe froze and broke in a major water line along SC 72 Tuesday morning, causing officials to issue the advisory.

The public utilities director Joseph Cade said the break was repaired but the water was tested to make sure it was not contaminated with any bacteria.

As a precautionary measure, customers of the water system are advised to boil their water for at least three minutes before drinking or cooking until notified otherwise by the water department.

Cade said on Thursday that the test results came back negative for bacteria, but he suggests residents continue to boil their water until Friday.
