SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies say a Spartanburg woman is accused of beating a man in the head with a frying pan - while he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers trying to get help.

Spartanburg County deputies said they were called to a Lee's Crossing Drive apartment Wednesday about the assault and found the suspect trying to leave the scene in a car.

According to the sheriff's office, when deputies stopped her and spoke with her, she said she had been arguing with the alleged victim, who had spent the night, because he would not help her put their baby in the car seat.

He came toward her, so she hit him, the deputy's report said. He shoved her into the doorway, knocking out one of her contact lens, deputies said.

But when deputies spoke to the victim, they said he reported being hit several times by the woman, identified as Kendaice McAbee. According to the alleged victim, McAbee had "become obnoxious and belligerent and started to hit and push him so he was going to leave," deputies said.

McAbee told him he was not leaving, and as he walked downstairs, she came after him and hit him with the frying pan, deputies said.

Deputies said McAbee, 21, was still hitting him while he was on the phone with dispatchers. McAbee was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence.
