Valet operators in Scottsdale could see a fee hike

Posted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AP) -

The Scottsdale City Council is considering a proposed ordinance that would more than quadruple the license fee for valet operators.

It also would restrict the location of valet parking stations and give the city more power to revoke and cancel licenses.

The council tentatively is set to consider the revised ordinance on Jan. 27. If approved, the measure would be in effect in 30 days.

City staff has been working on the revised ordinance since early 2013.

The revised ordinance would increase the one-time application fee for valet operators from the current $20 to $100 while the annual license fee would jump from $60 to $365.

Scottsdale officials say the fee increases are necessary to reflect increasing costs in the application and licensing process.
