Car crash knocks out power in Iva

IVA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A car crashed into a utility pole in Iva Thursday morning, knocking out power for people in the area.

Chief T. E. Miller with the Iva Police Department said the crash happened on Highway 81 across from the Family Dollar.

Miller said the driver of the car was not hurt and told police a medical issue may have caused the crash.

Miller said the driver was a diabetic and may have been experiencing extremely low blood sugar at the time crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Miller said.

Miller said the crash knocked out power to the area.

Pike Energy expected to have power restored within three hours, Miller said.
