FOREST CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Forest City police said officers have charged a man in connection to an early morning burglary.

Officers said they were called out to Gas House Plus, located at 835 W. Main St. in Forest City just before 6 a.m. Thursday.

Officers said they found the drive-thru window busted and the safe open and said the burglary tools that were used to gain access to the building had been left behind.

Police said Colby Lance Powers, 20, was later charged with first-degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and safe cracking.

Police said Powers stole cash, cigarettes, cigars and candy from the gas station.

Colby is being held in the Rutherford County Detention Center on a $105,000 secured bond.
