CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

It's unveiling a so-called "elite" social group in Charleston. Bravo's new two minute trailer for "Southern Charm" is airing in homes across the country, and causing a stir here in the Lowcountry.

The reality show was filmed here in Charleston and follows the lives of six main characters who tout themselves as being part of a Southern high society.

News of the show it is getting mixed reactions from Charleston residents, some worried it won't be painting such a charming picture of their home town.

"I think they're going for the most stereotypical aspect of Charleston," said Ben Sullivan, Charleston resident. "I think there's a lot more to this city than what's going to be on the show."

From the trailer, episodes of Southern Charm promise to be full of love, money and scandal.

"I don't think Charlestonians are that vapid," said Sullivan. "That's not a good representation."

Does the show really portray what Charleston is all about? Live 5 hit the streets, and showed the trailer to some pedestrians who had mixed reviews.

"Charleston has a lot of different parts but that's just not my style," said Darren Whitaker, Charleston resident.

"I will not be in the background of any episode of that I'm pretty sure," said Sullivan.

One thing most agreed one was that the publicity isn't all bad.

"I still would like to see it, it looks like a lot of fun, everybody is having fun," said Whitaker.

"The city looks really pretty," said Jesse McCommon, College of Charleston student.

Whether it's a hit or not, it's gotten the City of Charleston talking.

"We have to wait and see," said Brynn McMahan, College of Charleston student.

McMahan, along with some of her fellow classmates, say they'll definitely be tuning in to check it out.

"It looked like a good show, just not for me," said Whitaker.

Live 5 reached out the Bravo producers and the production company, Haymaker TV. We've yet to hear back from them about their take on how it portrays the city.

The first episode airs on March 3 on Bravo.
