Clemson's Beasley back to improve game, get degree

CLEMSON, SC (AP) -

Clemson All-American defensive end Vic Beasley says it was never more than a 50-50 chance he'd leave for the NFL so it wasn't a tough decision to return to school and finish his degree.

Beasley had received a second-round grade from the NFL draft advisory board. Some analysts had the Atlantic Coast Conference sacks leader among their first-round picks.

But Beasley says he was told he should add about 10 pounds to his 235-pound frame to properly prepare himself for the next level.

Beasley had 13 sacks during his junior season, tying for third overall nationally this past fall.

Still, Beasley sounded ready to leave after Clemson's 40-35 victory in the Orange Bowl over Ohio State, saying it was nice to "leave Clemson University on a good note."
