LYMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Upstate officers removed a speed bump from the middle of the road on Monday after local residents said they had to take matters into their own hands.

Lyman police and fire responded to Lawrence Street after getting reports of an unlawful speed bump in the road. The speed bump could be seen partially obstructing both lanes of traffic.

Firefighters removed the speed bump, which was bolted to the road, within a few hours of it being installed.

"These people going understand; this is not a thorough fare. This is my home. This is my grandbabies home. Their safety is my No. 1 priority and I can't get nothing done about it," said Monika Julian, a resident of the neighborhood.

On Monday night, no one had been cited for the incident.

We tried to reach out to the Lyman Police Department but our phone calls haven't been returned at this time.
