Deputies: $50K of copper pipes stolen from Greenville building

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said someone stole $50,000 worth of copper pipes from the former  Veterans Affairs clinic in Greenville.

Deputies said a company doing work at the Augusta Road building reported copper water piping was stolen between 4 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday.

According to deputies, the metal was valued at $50,000.

According to a spokesperson for Veterans Affairs, the theft did not happen at the new VA Hospital in Greenville, which is located on Park Creek Drive. The spokesperson said the Augusta Road building was a former leased building and is no longer a VA clinic.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.

NOTE: Deputies initially reported that the theft happened at the Augusta Road VA Hospital.
