ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

McDowell County deputies said the inmate who escaped from a Buncombe County prison Tuesday night was found in their county.

A spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety said 27-year-old Anthony Riddle was discovered missing about 9 p.m. from the Buncombe Correctional Center, minimum unit after he walked away from the prison.

According DPS, Riddle was serving a few years on larceny and possession of a firearm by a felon charges and was expected to be released in July 2015.

Riddle is from McDowell County, so DPS said he may be headed that way, which deputies confirmed when they reported finding him in Marion Wednesday about 10:30 a.m.

Keith Acree, a DPS spokesperson, said Riddle was found at an apartment in Marion and will be charged with escape from prison. Acree said Riddle will be taken to Mountain View Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine to resume serving his sentence. He also said charges may be filed against friends who aided Riddle in his escape.

The Buncombe Correctional Center is located in Asheville at 2988 Riverside Dr. and is a minimum-security prison for men.

According to deputies, deputies and Marion police helped the Department of Corrections in the capture of Riddle.
