Spartanburg County deputies said a woman was found bruised and beaten, with shoe prints on her neck and back, after a man she was estranged from assaulted her because her cell phone was locked.
Deputies said they were called to a Spartanburg hospital where the woman was treated Wednesday.
According to deputies, the woman stopped by 27-year-old Bennie Jackson's hotel room where he is staying because they are separated. He asked her to unlock her cell phone so he could look through it.
She refused, and that is when he began punching her in the face until she went unconscious, according to the sheriff's office report. The woman came to in the bathtub and Jackson was still punching her, stomping her with his feet while wearing a pair of yellow Jordan Air Force tennis shoes, deputies said.
Jackson stopped attacking her when there was a knock on the door, and the woman was able to run out for help, according to the report.
Deputies arrested Jackson and charged him with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
