TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

For the second time in two years an Upstate city is in the running to be named "coolest small town in America."

Travelers Rest made it into the final round of the competition, organized by Budget Travel magazine, after getting the second-highest number of online votes in December's preliminary round.

The entry for the city on Budget Travel's website read, "Travelers Rest gets its travel-mag-ready moniker from the pioneer days, when travelers followed a trail dotted with the occasional tavern or inn," the entry for Travelers Rest reads, adding mention of area outdoor activities and the city's developing downtown."

"We're excited to be in the running again this year, and I think Travelers Rest has a good shot of making it to the top," said Diana Kilgore, president of the Greater Travelers Rest Chamber of Commerce in a release from the city.

Other finalists include Berlin, MD; Buckhannon, WV; Cazenovia, NY; Deadwood, SD; Elkin, NC; Estes Park, CO; Everglades City, FL; Galena, IL; Hunting Woods, MI; Kelleys Island, OH; Matthews, VA; Nevada City, CA; Pahoa, HI; and Rockport, TX.
