GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner identified the skeletal remains found in a wooded area of Greenville County last week.

Coroner Parks Evans identified the remains as those of Marcel Allen Davis of Greenville County. Evans said Davis was 25 years old when he was reported missing by his family.

Parks said Davis' birthday is Nov. 22, 1979, which would have made him 34 years old now.

Evans said the coroner's office and the sheriff's office are still investigating the death.

The cause and manner of death has not been determined at this time, Evans said it is pending further investigation and test results.

Master Deputy Jonathan Smith of the sheriff's office said they responded to a 911 call about bones being found in a wooded area off of Groce Road near Blackberry Valley Road on Jan. 23.

Investigators went to the location and found the remains, which Smith said have been there for an undetermined about of time.

The coroner said the date of death is still pending investigation.
