GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

American Idol show officials say two contestants from the Upstate have made it through to the second round.

Seneca native Sam Burchfield and Gaffney's Ali Henderson both got a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Henderson is a 16-year-old high school student who said she had been waiting a long time to audition for the show. Thursday she and her family held a watch party at the Capri in Gaffney to celebrate her debut on the show.

"I'm excited for the future and what it holds, no matter what happens it can only go up from here," said Henderson.

Burchfield, 22, says he's been singing since middle school. He currently lives in Athens, GA, where he attends the University of Georgia. He said it was a dream come true to make it to the next round.

"It was an exciting moment, everything was leading up to this one moment," said Burchfield. "This piece of paper, so I got it and walked out and into the holding room to my family and it was just awesome to see everyone so proud."

Season 13 of American Idol airs on FOX Carolina Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m.
