GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

One firefighter was hurt after slipping on ice while battling a house fire in Greenville, and a person who lived at the home was taken to the hospital, according to Fire Inspector L.C. Dendy.

Dendy said the fire took place at 419 Croft St. Friday.

A total of 26 firefighters and six engine companies worked together to put out the flames, Dendy said.

No one was home when the fire broke out, Dendy said, but one person did return while firefighters were battling the blaze, and was transported to hospital because of anxiety after seeing the damage to home.

One firefighter was also hurt after slipping on ice that accumulated at the scene from the fire hoses, Dendy said. The firefighter was treated on scene and not taken to the hospital.

Dendy said the second floor of the home was damaged.

Dendy said the fire was sparked by a kerosene heater that was too close to combustibles.

Firefighters say the fire was unintentional.
