SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County coroner said a 59-year-old woman was found dead in her home on Saturday after family had been unable to contact her since Wednesday.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Yvonne Ford McMillian of Spartanburg was found dead in her locked apartment on Washington Road, which had visible fire and smoke damage when investigators arrived.

"There does not appear to be any foul play or evidence of trauma," Clevenger said. "She appears to have been overcome by smoke, causing her to lose consciousness."

The Spartanburg Fire Department, Spartanburg City fire marshal's office and Spartanburg police are investigating the fire, Clevenger said.

Clevenger said the case remains under investigation, and the manner of death is pending toxicology and autopsy findings.

An autopsy will be performed on Sunday to help determine the exact cause of death, Clevenger said.
