SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said two people were killed and three others were hurt in a massive house fire in Spartanburg County Sunday morning.

Clevenger identified the victims as 35-year-old Michael Cothran and his son 9-year-old Dylan Cothran.

Fire investigator Bill Holmes said firefighters were called to the blaze on Shehan Drive in northern Spartanburg County about 5:30 a.m.

Holmes said the home was almost 100 percent engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene.

Holmes said three people were able to make it out of the house after the fire erupted.

Holmes said one of the fire victims was still in the hospital but that the other two were treated and released.

"Nothing appears suspicious at this time," Holmes said, "but the cause of the fire is still under investigation."

Clevenger said he was still working to identify the victims due to the extent of the damage wrought by the fire and that autopsies were already underway. Clevenger said dental X-rays would have to be used to confirm one of the victims' identities.

"We're still working to determine the manner of death," Clevenger said.

Clevenger said four fire departments spent hours putting out the fire, which impaired the recovery of the bodies.
