According to Greenville County deputies, a spat between a mother and daughter-in-law led to a shot fired in front of a 5-month-old child.
The cause of the argument is unknown, but deputies said it prompted the mother-in-law to get a gun and point it at her daughter-in-law, telling her there would be no yelling or cursing in her house.
The daughter-in-law tried to wrestle the gun away, but the gun accidentally went off, according to deputies. The bullet grazed the mother-in-law's chest, but deputies said she is in good condition. Deputies also said they believe the mother-in-law mistakenly pulled the trigger and shot herself.
The daughter-in-law then took the 5-month-old child home, where Greenville County deputies caught up with her.
Deputies are speaking with all parties to figure out what led to the incident.
No one has been arrested at this time, and deputies said if the mother-in-law shot herself, it's unlikely there will be charges related to the shooting. However, deputies said the mother-in-law may be looking at possible child endangerment charges for pulling a weapon in front of a child.
