ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for assistance after an armed robbery early Thursday morning.

At 1:30 a.m. a man went into the Mountain Energy Store on Hendersonville Road with a knife, taking cash, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies described the man as being 5'10" and wearing tan insulated overalls and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The man was last seen leaving the store in a two-door, white Toyota sedan. Deputies said he was observed forcibly removing the North Carolina plate from the car before driving out onto Beale Road towards Glen Bridge Road.

Deputies said the man should be considered armed and dangerous.

Deputies ask anyone with information to contact the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office at 828-250-6670 or Crime Stoppers.
