GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A cab driver wrecked into a house on Birnie Street in Greenville on Thursday night after he was robbed at knifepoint, according to police.

Police said a passenger inside the taxi pulled a knife on the driver demanding money and that's when the car crashed into the front porch of the home.

According to police, the driver was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening head injury.

Officers searched for the robber and a perimeter was set up in the area, but they did not locate him. Investigators don't believe the robber was injured, according to Johnathan Bragg with the Greenville Police Department.

Bragg said police believe the suspect may have grabbed the driver, causing a struggle between them and may have led to the crash.

No one inside the home was injured and firefighters said the structure was safe, according to Bragg.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
