Police continue to investigate an armed robbery that happened shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday night.
The robbery took place at the Express Gas and Food Mart on State Street.
Sgt. John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department told CBS 3 that the subject, who was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark jeans and a mask, made their way behind the counter with a black handgun in the clerk's face and demanded money.
Delaney said the clerk opened the cash register, then both the clerk and the robber proceeded to remove money from the drawer and place it in a bag.
The robber then took off west down State Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The owner of the store has since reviewed surveillance video of the crime with police.
