ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office Detention Center is hosting a benefit dinner for the son of one of their officers who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

On Friday, Feb. 7, the spaghetti dinner will be held at North Asheville Baptist Church from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p..m. to raise money for 12-year-old Logan Maney.

Logan is the son of Buncombe County Detention Center Officer Jennifer Maney. Doctors recently diagnosed him with the tumor. He is undergoing several rounds of radiation at Duke Medical Center in Durham to fight the cancer.

"Both Logan's mother and grandmother work in our facility," said Sgt. Bert Alexander of the Buncombe County Detention Center. "When you work with someone day in and day out they become part of you. They are your work family. We are all family at Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, and it is the least we can do to help out one of our own. We want Jennifer and Diane to know we are there for them and will support them anyway we can."

The dinner is taking donations online and the proceeds will go to help his mom with their medical and travel expenses.

To stay up to date with Logan's treatment, progress and future fundraisers, a Facebook page has been created titled Love for Logan.

According to the Facebook page, Logan's mom has worked at the detention center for 12 years and is a single mother of two. In one of the first posts on the page created Jan. 14, Logan has a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma tumor.

To show further support for Logan, people have taken to posting photos on the Facebook page giving him a "thumbs up" for encouragement.

North Asheville Baptist Church is located at 20 Reynolds Mountain Blvd. in Asheville.

Questions about the benefit can be directed to Sgt. Bert Alexander at 828-545-0929 or Sgt. Matt Baldwin at 828-545-2179.
