TUCSON, AZ (CBS5) -

Narcotics valued at more than $1.3 million were confiscated last week in multiple seizures by federal authorities.

On Jan. 25, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 19 checkpoint near Tubac discovered six packaged bundles of crystal methamphetamine concealed around the waist and groin area of a man. The narcotics were worth more than $46,000.

Later that morning, Casa Grande Border Patrol agents arrested two undocumented immigrants and seized more than 635 pounds of marijuana during patrol operations.

Last Sunday, agents stopped a vehicle with six occupants near mile marker 413 on State Route 80. During an immigration check, agents said they determined the four occupants in the back seat were undocumented immigrants. The occupants were taken into custody and the driver and passenger were arrested on human smuggling charges.

Tuesday evening, agents patrolling near Topowa arrested four undocumented immigrants and seized more than 562 pounds of marijuana in the immediate vicinity.

The next day, agents detected and followed footprints in the Santa Rosa Mountains for about one mile before discovering 10 bundles of marijuana valued at more than $255,600.

The largest seizure of the week occurred Thursday near Marana, when agents detected tire tracks leading off-road into a brush area. There, they discovered an abandoned truck.

A search of the vehicle revealed 16 shotgun shells and 30 bricks of marijuana inside the cab and bed of the truck, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. The value of the narcotics was estimated at about $402,575.

In another incident that afternoon, three undocumented immigrants were apprehended after the vehicle they were in failed to yield at the U.S. Route 191 checkpoint near McNeal, CBP said.

All of the occupants were arrested.

All of the narcotics taken in each of the incidents totaled more than 2,500 pounds.
