Pima County board appoints replacement legislator

TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

An historic preservation activist is the Pima County Board of Supervisors' pick to fill an Arizona House vacancy.

The supervisors on Tuesday appointed Demion Clinco to serve as one of two representatives from Legislative 2.

The House vacancy was created when the supervisors appointed then-Rep. Andrea Dalessandro to fill a Senate vacancy. That vacancy was created by Sen. Linda Lopez's resignation.

Democratic Party activists over the weekend nominated Clinco and two other people to serve out the remainder of Dalessandro's term.

Clinco is board president of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation. He also serves on the Tucson-Pima County Historic Commission and the board of the Center for Desert Archaeology.
