LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Abbeville man is facing charges in several counties after deputies said he is connected to burglaries at multiple businesses throughout South Carolina.

According to the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, over the past 30 days, at least seven agencies in the area have received reports of similar burglaries, spurring them to join forces to work on the cases together.

Deputies said through the help of DNA evidence they were able to get warrants for 35-year-old William Ray.

A search warrant was obtained for Ray's home, but when they got there they did not find him and learned he had fled to Greenville County, according to the sheriff's office.

US Marshals then joined the search, helping deputies arrest Ray at a motel in Greenville County late Friday night, the sheriff's office said.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office said Ray is charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, two first-degree burglary, four attempted burglary, one grand larceny, one petit larceny and one malicious injury to personal property in the county.

He also faces charges in several other cities and counties in South Carolina.

Officers from the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, Abbeville Police Dept., Greenwood County Sheriff's Office, Greenwood Police Dept., Laurens County Sheriff's Office, McCormick Police Dept., and the Saluda Police Dept. worked together on the case.
