Police: Gymnastics coach accused of sex crimes in Simpsonville, OK

Simpsonville police said a former gymnastics coach is accused of sexually assaulting a girl following his arrest for a similar crime in Oklahoma.

Capt. Kevin Threlkeld with Simpsonville police said they were notified by Oklahoma officials following a similar case in their area, where Sandro Ramos currently residents.

Ramos, 39, used to work at the previously named Elite Gymnastics in Simpsonville and during his time there, he sexually assaulted a girl at the gym, according to police.

Threlkeld said they spoke with the victim, who was 14 to 15 at the time, and she said the incident happened between 2010 and 2012.

Simpsonville police have charged Ramos with criminal sexual conduct with a minor second-degree. According to his warrant, Ramos inappropriately touched the girl and tried to have sex with her while he was a coach at the Grandview Drive gym.

Ramos, who now lives in Hugo, OK, is being held at the Choctaw County Jail, police said. According to the jail's online records, Ramos is being held on charges of first-degree rape and four counts of lewd molestation in addition to the hold from Simpsonville police.

There is no word when Ramos may be extradited back to the Upstate.
