Clouds will build across the Upstate and mountains overnight before making their way to mostly sunny skies once again.
Sunday morning will be off to a cloudy start with temperatures in the upper 30s and upper 20s. Winds will be light in the Upstate out of the northwest between 3 and 7 mph. Across the mountains winds will be in the low single digits out of the east. The mountains can see patchy fog across the area as well.
Clouds will quickly decrease as the morning progresses and temperatures climb rapidly. Look to see highs approach 60 degrees in the Upstate. Winds will become breezy out of the southwest between 5 and 15 mph with gusts as fast as 24 mph.
Western North Carolina can see highs approach the lower 50s with a gentle breeze out of the northwest. Once again, skies will be mostly sunny for the Upstate and mountains.
Temperatures will fall into the 30s on Sunday night into Monday. As the work week gets underway, we are looking to see the possibility of winter weather for Tuesday into Wednesday.
We can see the first signs on Monday night in the form of rain. Overnight into Tuesday, we can see that rain turn into a wintry mix then snow by Tuesday afternoon. About 1 inch to 1.5 inches of rain could fall across the area on Tuesday.
Tuesday night into Wednesday will see the chance of snow continue, as well as the possibility of sleet. Overnight lows can fall into the lower 30s in the upstate and mid-20s across the mountains. Wednesday will continue the chance of snow as well and even freezing rain later in the day.
At this time we could see snow, freezing rain and sleet throughout the course of two days. This can all change, though, as just a few degrees can be the deciding factor here.
