SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are investigating the theft of two puppies from a car in the Westgate Mall parking lot.

Police said a woman parked her car outside the mall Friday night and forgot to lock her car doors. She told officers she left her two pit bull puppies inside the vehicle, and when she returned to the car at about 9 p.m., the door was open and the dogs were gone.

A male pit bull named "Honey," with a black coat with brown muzzle and paws, and "Panther," a sold black female, were stolen from the car.

Police said mall security footage showed an older model silver four-door sedan pull into the parking space next to the victim's car, take the dogs from the victim's car and then drive off.

Police said they were working to identify the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC
