GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged after deputies said he was shot while attempting to break into his brother's home.

Early Monday morning, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a possible burglary on Augusta Road.

The homeowner told dispatchers his brother, Donald Nathan Nunn, was armed with a handgun and kicking a glass door, according to Master Deputy Jonathan Smith.

Smith said Nunn eventually broke the glass door and the homeowner, fearing for his safety, fired at his brother. The homeowner then said he no longer heard his brother trying to get into the house, Smith said.

The sheriff's office then received a second call by the father of both men saying his son had been shot.

When deputies arrived they found Nunn, who they said had suffered a gunshot wound to his pelvic area, Smith said.

According to Smith, Nunn appeared to be under the influence of some type of substance because he was unaware that he was shot.

Nunn was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

No other injuries were reported, Smith said.

Smith said Nunn is still in the hospital being treated for his injures and has been charged with first degree burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Once he is released from the hospital he will be taken to the detention center for a bond hearing.
