American Red Cross of the Western Carolinas is urging everyone to shelter-in-place for the remainder of the winter storm.

Red Cross officials say people should not attempt to drive until roads are deemed safe.  They recommend everyone have supplies to continue sheltering-in-place for 24-48 hours in the event of a power outage.

Red Cross currently has three shelters open in the Western Carolinas, two in Anderson County and one in Polk County.

If conditions worsen or there are widespread outages, more shelters could be opened. To find a shelter, go to http://app.redcross.org/nss-app/ or call (864) 271-8222.
