GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The sound of love is ringing throughout Dahlia a Florist in Greenville. However, on the other end of several phone calls, panic fever set in on a cold Thursday.

"We have heard a few guys that have called and said 'What are you doing?'" Kristie Berry said.

She's the owner of Dahlia a Florist and knows she has to get floral arrangements out the door for Valentine's Day, despite icy Upstate roads.

"I have hired some drivers and some people who are used to the roads," Berry said.

It's a concern for several business owners. Crews are plowing through snow and icy parking lots while shopping mall lots sit empty, waiting on customers and diners.

"Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve are by far the two biggest nights," Berry said.

Robin Martz is operating partner at the restaurant Chophouse '47.

"We will be here," Martz said.

He said tables are set and reservations are shifting.

"When it falls on a Friday, it's like once every seven years. It's a huge deal," Martz said.

And because the day of love is such a huge deal, Tonya Bryant and her husband didn't want to break their children's hearts.

"We had gone to a couple of other places and everybody's closed," Bryant said. "Just worried that it was going to ruin Valentine's."

However, they found some gifts at Walgreen's drug store on East North Street in Greenville.

"Oh, thank God" Braynt said.

Walgreen's is where David Gibson also found relief after he realized time was running out.

"I've actually been at my office since Tuesday night and thought, 'Oh goodness it's Valentine's Day tomorrow,'" Gibson said.

And for Berry, all the sound of busy work at her floral shop will surely make someone's heart skip a beat.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Berry told a customer as she walked out of the store.
