Upstate snow, ice continues thaw as temps rise - FOX Carolina 21

Some rain and snow heading in tonight

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

After a beautiful day, the area saw much of the snow melt but some precipitation will return on Friday night.

Clouds increased this evening as a fast-moving storm system approaches. We should remain mostly dry through the evening for your Valentine's plans, but later in the night scatters showers move in.

The chance for scattered showers will move across the Upstate and northeast Georgia, but should move out before lows drop into the low 30s. Western North Carolina towns could see a mix of rain and snow, with a changeover to entirely snow showers along the Tennessee border.

One to 3 inches is expected to fall across the highest elevations, so there is a Winter Weather Advisory in place until 1 p.m. Saturday for the Tennessee border counties, as well as Jackson, Macon, and Buncombe counties.

While the roads are clearing, areas that don't see much sun will likely take into the weekend to completely thaw. Residents can check county-by-county road condition updates online at http://206.74.144.9/RoadConditions/default.aspx?t=win.

Saturday and Sunday look seasonably cool and dry. Highs will reach the low 50s under plenty of sunshine. Therefore, whatever snow and sleet is left will likely melt away.
