UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate man was arrested after deputies said he was driving drunk and was spotted doing doughnuts in a snowy church parking lot.

Union County deputies said they were called to New Hope Church's parking lot in Buffalo after 9 p.m. Thursday when someone saw a truck doing doughnuts.

As deputies arrived, they said they saw the truck matching the description headed down Linersville Road and stopped the driver.

The driver said he was showing the passenger how to drive in the snow, according to the sheriff's office report. Deputies said they smelled alcohol from the truck and asked the driver to do a sobriety test.

The man, identified as Robert Gregory, agreed, but deputies said he had a hard time counting and touching his fingers during one test and had trouble saying his ABCs.

Gregory, 45, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. According to the report, Gregory's blood alcohol level was 0.23.
