CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies arrested and charged two teens after a "hoax device" was found in a Laurens County resident's yard, according to the sheriff's office.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office said they received a call about a suspicious jar in the yard on Sunday at the home on Bar-B-Villa Road in Clinton.

The resident told deputies he had been having some trouble with some boys who lived down the street and he thought they might have something to do with it, according to the incident report.

Deputies found a large pickle jar filled with rocks and two devices inside that had wires taped to them, according to the report.

A neighbor spoke with deputies and stated he had a pickle jar like the one found in the yard that he used to keep a spider in, but the spider died.

The neighbor said he then placed it outside, where it went missing, according to the report.

Deputies found the lid to the jar where the man said he had left it and they also found a torn apart old stereo, the report said.

The neighbor, Allen Michael Tucker, 17, and a 15-year-old juvenile have been charged with manufacturing a hoax device in connection with the incident, the sheriff's office said.

The juvenile's name has not been released because of his age.

William Lafler said he knows the teens and that the 15 year old had been carrying the jar around for more than a month. He said the jar was the makings of an aquarium for spiders.

Lafler said the teen doesn't have the wherewithall to pull a prank like planting a hoax device, but that he is fascinated by insects and animals and planned to make the pickle jar a home for them.
