After a long two months of rehabilitation and physical therapy, an Upstate boy is back home with his family.
Ian Greene, 4, was almost killed after a TV fell on his head a few days before Christmas. Ian was climbing on his dad's dresser on Dec. 16 when the TV that was on
top of it fell over onto his head. The family said the TV weighed at
least 150 pounds.
Doctors told the family it was a miracle he even survived. Ian has had physical and speech therapy since the accident.
The family said doctors consider his recovery "miraculous."
"It was so touch and go for a little while, not knowing what was going on or what was going to happen," said Ian's father J.J. Greene, who was with Ian at the time of the accident.
Greene thought his son was dead the moment he found him in the bedroom under the 150 pound set.
Ian still struggles with speech and fine motor skills, but the family said doctors are optimistic he will make a full or nearly full recovery.
"He's a miracle, that's our miracle right there," said Ian's grandmother, Connie Wood. "God did this, I really believe God has a special reason for that baby being here."
The Prayers for Ian
Facebook page was established shortly after the accident. The page has kept thousands of people updated on Ian's recovery.
Safekids.org reports one child every three weeks dies from a TV toppling over on them.
