SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg Police Department is rallying around one of their own during a time of need and holding a fundraiser.

Police said they will be holding a hotdog fundraiser for the Parris family, who's son is seriously ill and requires extensive medical treatment.

John Parris, a former officer with the city, who now works at the courthouse for the Spartanburg County Detention Center is the father of Bobby Parris.

The police department said in a release that the family has not asked for help and they just wanted to assist them with uncovered expenses.

The fundraiser will be held on Friday, Feb. 21 from 11 - 2 p.m. at 151 S. Spring Street, in the parking lot beside the Spartanburg Fire Department Station 1.

The fundraiser meal will include 2 hotdogs, chips and a drink for $5.
