BORNO, NIGERIA (FOX) - Victims are being treated and the death toll rises after suspected Islamist fighters launch an attack in Nigeria.

According to a U.N. agency, the death toll from this weekend's uprising now stands at over a 150 people.

The area hardest hit is northeastern Nigeria, where the extremist group responsible, Boko Haram, wants to establish an Islamic state.

Survivors of the massacre are being treated at a local hospital.

The facility is treating children and adults who are battling injuries that range from minor burns to more serious injuries that have put victims on life support.

"It's not easy, they have been trying, treating the patients, in fact taking good care of the victims. It is not easy, I appreciate their efforts," said Naomi Markus, the sister of an injured man.

This is the fourth year of the Nigerian Islamic uprising.
