ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

A teenager has been arrested Tuesday for setting fire to a Target store in Enfield, so police said she and a friend set the fire so they could shoplift.

Erica Lynn Anderson, 19, and another woman were caught on surveillance cameras inside the store at the time of the fire, according to police.

Anderson was charged with second-degree arson, second-degree conspiracy to commit arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Anderson, who was previously charged with fifth-degree larceny, was arraigned at Enfield Superior Court on Wednesday.

Police said the fire was set in the seasonal paper goods section of the store around 7 p.m. on Jan. 27.

Police said Anderson stole merchandise from the store after setting the fire. Anderson's boyfriend told police she confessed to the crime.

"Erica thinks (the other woman) used STP gas to start the fire. She said (that woman) started it in the paper aisle. She felt bad she couldn't tell anyone. She swore (the other woman) set the fire.

Shoppers, employees and neighboring stores had to be evacuated during the fire and many of Target's items were damaged by smoke.

Many of the items that could be salvaged were donated to Foodshare, the charity group said.

Police released surveillance photos on Feb. 4 of two women they called "persons of interest." After those photos were released, police said they did receive a few tips.

Police are not releasing the name of the other woman involved with the arson, but they do have a warrant for her arrest.
