SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate man is accused of calling in a bomb threat to a local credit union in order to distract the staff, according to Spartanburg County deputies.

Deputies said the threat was called into the SC Telco Credit Union on Tuesday but nothing was found at the bank.

Upon further investigation, deputies said they identified the caller as Travis Weaver, 32. Deputies said they identified Weaver as the suspect using his phone number, surveillance from the bank and GPS that placed his phone near the bank at the time of the call.

When they spoke with Weaver, deputies said he admitted to making the call to distract the staff so he could take out money from an account.

Weaver was arrested and charged with making a bomb threat.
