GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A suspect was taken into custody after the SWAT team was called to a home in Greenville County on Wednesday afternoon.

Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said the Greenville County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at about 2:15 p.m. reporting a man pointing a gun at someone.

Smith said the caller reported he was in the neighborhood leaving door hangers regarding his lawn care business when he was approached by the man.

The man asked him what he was doing and he explained that he was trying to get business, Smith said.

The man, who Smith identified as 67-year-old Ned Bassler, pointed a gun at the TruGreen salesman and told him he needed to leave the neighborhood, according to Smith.

The salesman then called 911.

Deputies responded to Bassler's Collier Lane home where he closed the door on them and refused to come out to speak with them, according to Smith.

Smith said SWAT was then called to the scene because deputies knew the man was armed and he was not coming out of his house.

Deputies eventually forced their way into the home and took Bassler into custody without incident, according to Smith.

Bassler has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm and is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center. He appeared before a judge Wednesday night where his bond was set at $5,000.
