GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a Greenville man has been charged after a woman was found shot dead at a Greenville home Friday morning.

Dispatchers said the shooting was reported at 2504 Old Easley Bridge Road near White Horse Road.

Deputies said they received a 911 call about a gunshot victim at 5:19 a.m.

When investigators arrived, Sgt. Jennings Autrey with the sheriff's office said they discovered the victim had died and she had been shot at least once.

Deputies detained 69-year-old Kenneth Campbell at the scene and took him in for questioning to investigate what happened, Autrey said.

Campbell, who lives at the Easley Bridge Road address, was later charged with the murder of the woman, according to Autrey. He was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Greenville County coroner's office identified the woman as 31-year-old Heather Shannon. He said her cause and manner of death were still pending.

Autrey said homicide and violent crimes investigators were investigating the shooting.
