Montreat College's faculty wants the resignation of trustees who support a merger with a Georgia school.
The faculty voted Wednesday to approve a letter of no confidence in the board.
The vote came after the board agreed Tuesday to continue efforts to merge with Point University in Georgia.
Montreat faculty and students worry that Point could close Montreat's residential campus.
The Point University board meets Monday.
The faculty letter to the board says the trustees have not had proper communication. The faculty says the board should be replaced with members committed to continuing the residential campus at Montreat.
The faculty says it had supported merger plans last year when it appeared the merger would strengthen the residential campus.
The board will discuss the faculty letter at its next meeting.
