GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Friends and family members of a man who was burned by an electric shock while changing a billboard in Cherokee County in Dec. 2013 sold hot dog plates to raise money for his medical expenses.

Randall Thornburg said he suffered third-degree burns and fell more than 30 feet when he accidentally touched a live electric line with a pole he was using to remove an ad from a roadside billboard along I-85.

Friends, family and other supporters from the community gathered at the Diamond Child Care Center on Webber Road in Gaffney and bought hot dog plates to benefit Thornburg and his family.
