GREENVILLE, SC (AP/FOX Carolina) -

Venezuelan-Americans living in the Upstate demonstrated to show their support of the Venezuelans protesting in the South American country Saturday.

Dozens gathered in Falls Park in downtown Greenville with signs and chanted their support for the Venezuelans who had been protesting the socialist ruling earlier this week.

The response from the leaders of the oil-rich country was violence.

At least six people were killed and more than 100 others were hurt in the backlash.

The protesters in Greenville said human rights are basically nonexistent in Venezuela and they want to push for more human rights laws and economic changes in the South American country.
